Church & State

Myself and brother Matt have been creating our own unique brand of atmospheric music since 2007. In 2009 we began
performing in churches and other acoustically inspiring spaces. On this page we'll keep track of everything Church & State does.

The music is largely improvised, textural, ambient, and is produced using electric guitar and digital signal
processing in a programme called Audiomulch. This does lots of clever granulation and delay things.
We did two R & D sessions over the summer of 2007, producing six pieces, and began performing live in October 2009.

Performances

04/03/2011 - All Saints Church, Woodton, Norfolk
29/01/2010 - St. Mary's Church, Huntingfield, Suffolk
10/10/2009 - All Saints Church, Stradbroke, Suffolk

Music

The first piece on the first day of rehearsals was really good. We've uploaded it here for your listening pleasure. Roll your
curser over the little Macbooks and download the music by saving the link or play it on your computer's audio player. None
of the pieces have names but each patch is numbered, so we just call the pieces #1, #2 etc based in which patch is used.
#1 is mostly a series of very long delays and I've generally settled in playing in C harmonic minor.

Church & State #1 (Studio 2007)

Here's another piece from Day One of rehearsals. This one takes a few seconds to get going so be patient.

Church & State #2 (Studio 2007)

Finally, here's a piece from our January 2010 performance at St Mary's Church, Huntingfield, in Suffolk. We wrote this patch a few days before the event.

Church & State #5 (Live 2010)
